Trip to San Angelo

On our way to San Angelo Friday night we had quite an eventful trip. We had just passed Lawton, OK and, going 75 mph, we hit an ottoman. I know...it sounds weird, but there was a black, leather, matte ottoman in the middle of the road and in pitch black night Chaz didn't see it until the last second. We smashed into it and it was soooo loud. Chaz slammed on the brakes and pulled to the shoulder with this ottoman attached the front of our car. We sat there in shock for a second and then Chaz got out and saw that our car was smashed in and the radiator busted. The ottoman was also totally destroyed. The girls that lost it eventually came back and got it. The furniture company should pay because they didn't even strap it in!! I'm not going to explain every detail that happened because this story would be 2 pages long, but basically a police took Chaz back to Lawton to rent a car, courtesy of Jim and Ashley (thank you SOOO much!) while Caleb, Tru, and I waited in the car on the shoulder in pitch black. I was sooo scared, but was driving to stay brave for the kids (that's the ONLY thing that kept me from breaking down). That and the scripture texts from Ashley. A tow truck hauled our smashed car back to Lawton and we'll deal with all of that later.Anyway, we finally got on the road and everything was fine. Our 7 hour trip turned into a 10 and a half hour trip. Thank you all for your prayers and I'm certainly counting my blessings. Things could have been so much worse. Pray for Chaz right now. He's taking the civil service test for firefighter on about 3 and half hours of sleep!God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in time of trouble. Psalm 46:1

Aw man!

So I just typed an entire blog on the tiny little keyboard on my phone and it got erased. Oh well. Might be a while until you get a long one. The boys are sick and we're attempting isolation in the house...talk about cabin fever. We're on day 2 of 14. Say a prayer for us. Will post when I can.

We've been at my parents' for Christmas and have had so much fun with everybody! I always dread leaving...I'm ready to get home and get back into normal schedule, but I love being here with all of my sisters and parents and brother-in-laws. I'm hoping the next time we come down will be because we're moving back (which we're planning on in the near future), but it's doubtful. We've been praying a lot for job opportunities for ChazHope everyone had a MERRY CHRISTMAS and we hope you have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'm at my in-laws' for Thanksgiving and having a good time. We stuffed ourselves this afternoon and then just hung out and watched the kiddos play. My picky eater, Caleb, wouldn't even try the sweet potatoes...and they had marshmallows on top! Haha! Oh well. We also let the kids open their Christmas presents since we'll be at my parents' at that time.

Caleb rode the tractor with Pop this morning and I went with him. He rode the cotton stripper and it was actually really cool watching what it does....and it was REALLY high up.

Not a very good pic., but I laid him on his back to sleep and then left the room. I heard him still awake trying to soothe himself to sleep and then I went to check on him. He had rolled from his back to his tummy and lost his paci...so he's using his thumb. What a sweetie!

Pumpkins and Pretty Weather

So I have a chance to blog. We're over at my in-laws' house and Chaz, Caleb, my father-in-law, and Chaz's little sisters are outside carving pumpkins. I just took some pictures (but again...I forgot the cable to put them up...sorry). Chaz is the one carving and Caleb is playing in the pumpkin 'guts' as Chaz calls it. Ha!

The weather was so nice today. It's been pretty chilly the last several days - too chilly to go outside. But today was so nice...sunny and just warm enough to play outside. It was cool because my devo this morning had a scripture from Psalms (70-something...I honestly can't remember) about finding God in what he's created - nature. How can we say there's no God when we look around? That's what the verse was saying. And how can we?

On another note, I miss my sisters and mom and dad and niece and nephew soooo bad! I cannot wait for Christmas! I honestly don't know if I can make it that long. Ha! My mom and sisters (minus 1 of them) were just being lazy hanging out today and I was jealous! Ha! Jealous of them doing nothing...just wanted to be with them doing nothing. Love y'all so much!

Better go check on the pumpkin carving....
